The last few days have been super eventful, and I believe I have too many pictures to post! We have a routine going now and are developing friends :) We are VERY excited about this new aspect. Our weekend was pretty full and thanks to our new friends we are tasting, seeing and experiencing the Brazilian way of life! Very similar to ours, haha, but different! I love this city, and I love my new team, yes we chose a side... COXA COXA COXA! Verde e branco! (The green and white!) It's one of the three teams in Curitiba.
Okay, let's discuss the games. They absolutely insane here, and amazing ... e MASSA! Sort of like ASU's games only with a lot more spirit, insanity and less regulations! Which probably helps out the "partying" aspect! HA. Oh USA, less rules at the games please! It really is hard to believe that we wouldn't have an equal amount of spirit, but you have to see it to understand!) I can see why any "soccer" player in the US would want to be apart of this environment for the rest of their lives! It really is a wonderful element of the culture. "Eu vim pra te apoiar!" -- One of COXA's chants :) You will all be hearing this chant a lot when we get back! Por que naõ!?
As far as our weekends, we took a Samba class Friday night, went to the Tap Jazz Brasil festival of dance the next night (with all our new dance friends) and the next day Ana Louisa (our sweet teacher) took us to Largo de Ordem, which is like a flea market and is only open til 2pm every Sunday! Followed by a grand lunch at Bar Alemõ (German Bar, and yes we have souvenirs :) Then, Parque Baraguii where we met up with Ju and her fiance... Here, we took a ton of photos, saw my first swamp beaver(s), yes Capivaras!!! HUGE BEAVERS!!! Unreal. Followed by another fair where we tried Pintaõs (the seeds of the Araucaria tree!) Unfortunately, these trees thrive in climates with cool oceanic summers... so you have to come to South America to try this lil treat :) Usually salt is placed on the side for those who want to add some flavor. Oh and Quentão, a hotty toddy, is the beverage of choice... hot, spiced and spiked apple cider-like drink. Basically, it's just the thing to transport me to someplace sunny and tropical! Love it all. OBRIGADA Ana, Ju and Michael for showing us a little more about what Brasil has to offer!
E brigada a Luana e seu noivo (fiancé) maraviolhso for taking us out for a night on the town Saturday night!
Love and miss you all back home! Thanks for reading and being on this adventure with us!
